| Description | This undertaking was formed by Deed of Settlement in 1856. It was purchased by the Improvement Commissioners in 1871 and passed to Chorley Corporation in 1926. The works were on Water St. In 1937 the Corporation purchased the Adlington Gas Co Ltd and extended its area of supply. In 1938 Chorley Corporation acquired the Blackrod Gas Co (incorporated in 1876) whose works were in Grimeford Lane, Blackrod. In 1949 the undertaking became part of the Preston Group of the NWGB. This collection contains eight items: finance, technical and miscellaneous records. |
