| Description | The Over and Wharton Gas Company Ltd was formed in 1857 and a works built on Weaver St in the parish of Over. The company entered voluntary liquidation in 1900 and the liquidators agreed to sell the undertaking to Winsford UDC in November 1900. In 1936 a further agreement was entered into between the Urban District Council and Winsford Gas Co Ltd, a company formed by the Severn Valley Gas Corporation Ltd. The undertaking was transferred to Winsford Gas Co Ltd in 1937. In 1949 the company vested into the Mid-Cheshire Group of the NWGB. There are six items in this collection. They include three minute books, annual reports, a salary register and an employment agreement. [1936 - 1949] |
