| Description | The Hindley Gas, Coke, Meter and Fitting Co Ltd was established in 1860, with works on Wigan Rd /Cross St in Hindley. An Act of 1872 authorised the purchase of the undertaking by the Local Board and a further Act of 1875 allowed the LB to raise more capital and extend the works. In 1949 the undertaking vested in the South Lancashire group of the NWGB. This collection consists only of the minutes of the Gas Committee. [1920 - 1948] |
