| Description | In 1949 the area was divided into three groups: a Kendal Group, a Furness Group, and a Lancaster - Morecambe Group. The area included works at Barrow in Furness, Dalton in Furness, Grange and Cartmel, Milnthorpe, Windermere, Sedburgh, Kendal, Ambleside, Millom, Lancaster, Ulverston, Kirkby Lonsdale, Carnforth and Bentham. The three Groups were evntually merged into one area - Lakeland District and the headquarters were at White Lund, Morecambe. |
