DescriptionThe first gas works in Littleborough were owned by Henry and Lawrence Newall. The Littleborough Gas Co was incorporated in 1865 and the works on Hare Hill Mill road were sold to the new company. The company was purchessed by the UKGC in 1937 but continued to trade under its own name. In 1949 the undertaking became part of the Oldham-Rochdale Group of the NWGB.
