TitleSTALYBRIDGE CORPORATION
DescriptionThe first Stalybridge Gas Co was formed in 1824/ 1829 but the undertaking was sold to the joint Corporations of Mossley and Stalybridge in 1885. The works were at Micklehurst in Stalybridge. The site rapidly became too small and the jointly run Mossley and Saddleworth undertaking was relocated on land at Roaches in Mossley. A separate gasworks in Stalybridge was established at Tame St / Park Rd by the Corporation. The undertaking became part of the North Cheshire Group of the NWGB in 1949.
