| Description | In 1869 a Westhoughton Gas Co Ltd was established by Memorandum of Association but no works were erected by the company. In 1870 the Westhoughton Consumers' Gas Co Ltd was formed and an Act of 1871 incorporated the company and authorised the purchase of the former undertaking. Works were built on Kearsley Lane, Westhoughton. In 1949 it became part of the Bolton - Radcliffe Group of the NWGB. This collection includes three minute books and a small number of legal records. |
